Is Jaco a good place for fishing?
Yes. Jacó is close to Herradura Bay and Los Sueños Marina, providing access to a strong Central Pacific fleet and both offshore and inshore fishing.
Should I book an inshore or offshore trip?
Choose inshore fishing for roosterfish, snapper, snook, less running time and half-day flexibility. Choose a full-day offshore trip for sailfish, marlin, tuna or dorado.
What is the best month to fish?
There is no single best month for every species. Sailfish typically peak from December through April, while marlin, tuna and dorado opportunities can be strong during green-season months. Inshore fishing is available year-round.
Do beginners need fishing experience?
No. Captains and mates can assist first-time anglers and children. Experienced anglers can also discuss preferred tactics and targets with the crew.
Can we keep the fish?
Sailfish and marlin are released, and roosterfish should also be released. Legal edible species such as tuna, dorado, wahoo or snapper may be kept when appropriate.
How far is Los Sueños from Jaco?
Los Sueños Marina and Herradura are generally about 10–15 minutes by road from central Jacó, depending on traffic and your exact accommodation.
